As the tallest building in the country, the Entel Tower in Santiago, Chile is an official aviation landmark. Now, the headquarters and telecommunications tower of the country’s largest telephone company is bathed in a continual nighttime feast of colors. Its dramatically colorful exterior lighting has transformed this structure into one of the most prestigious and well-known buildings gracing the Santaigo skyline.
The dynamic lighting scheme utilizes technology that works well with both bold and pastel hues. Lighting effects range from dramatic high-speed color shifts to subtle crossfades, making it possible to achieve any light mood to suit particular seasons or celebratory events.
Color on the building faces was combined with white searchlights on the top of the building to draw attention to the four-story tower. The colors that bathe the building in light, range from solid washes to gradations of up to five colors, automatically changing every half-hour.
Searchlights were added to the top of the building to emphasize the unique height and profile of the tower. The searchlights are controlled by a motorized motion control that moves the searchlights every two minutes to 0, 45, or 90-degree angles, combining at 0 degrees into a one-mile high beam of light.
The resulting building is one of the most prominent landmarks in the country-a fitting symbol of the Entel company’s technological expertise.
