In designing the Knoll showroom, our main goal was to light the product in a beautiful, yet energy efficient method in order to qualify for LEED certification (awarded LEED Silver). Our goal was achieved by mixing a variety of sources, primarily metal halide and fluorescent. In addition to keeping the wattage down, the client also wanted to reuse fixtures previously installed in another showroom. This posed a particular challenge because in the Philadephia showroom, we were determined to keep the ceiling clean by only installing fixtures on the beams spanning the space. The solution developed was a custom designed bracket for mounting the fixtures, which added an elegant decorative statement to the lighting.
