LIV at Fontainbleu

Focus Lighting’s design for LIV Nightclub at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach has helped breathe new life into the historic space originally designed by Morris Lapidus in 1954.  Formerly the Tropigala, a club once frequented by Frank Sinatra, the newly renovated LIV features a cylindrical central space capped by an expansive 80 foot dome.  A state of the art lighting system controls 870 LED fixtures that illuminate the ceiling.  An outer ring of fixtures wash the surface of the historic dome in vibrant colored light, while other fixtures embedded into the acoustic finish of the dome itself create dynamic low resolution video effects in a radial array.  (Click for sample video)

The space also features glowing stair risers and framed VIP booths at the mezzanine that are reminiscent of opera boxes.  Classical chandeliers create a visual connection to the warm sparkle of the backlit VIP frames and add a touch of elegant contrast to the modernist space.  A removable railing allows the rear VIP level to be converted to a full stage, which turns LIV into a fully functional live performance venue. Coupled with cutting-edge sound and theatrical lighting effects, the architectural lighting design at LIV creates a sexy, energetic nightlife experience that has leapt to the forefront of the Miami clubbing scene.
