Semiramis Hotel

The Semiramis Hotel, located in Athens, Greece uses innovative lighting fixtures embedded into the architecture to accent the distinctive materials. The lighting and architectural design blends together so seamlessly that it is hard to imagine one without the other.

At the entry to the hotel, stairs of glass backlit by white LED’s, greet guests as they view the rear-illuminated yellow-green glass balconies above. The front lobby is a dramatically changing environment created by color changing LED’s embedded into the architecture. LED’s are encased between the pink colored glass and the white wall of the front desk and well as in linear ceiling coves. Fluorescents underneath the entry vestibule floor contrast the bright colors produced by the lobby’s color-changing wall.

Located at the foot of each guest room door is a scrolling LED message center embedded in the carpet. This allows guests to program their own messages to scroll in front of their door and they can also receive messages from the front desk.

Each room’s unique headboard is backlit by dimmable T8 fluorescents. Focus Lighting, Inc. custom designed the pivoting bedside lamps. Normally dimmed to 50%, when pivoted out from the wall, these sconces reach full-brightness, providing ample reading light.

The Semiramis Hotel blends the latest lighting technology with the designers’ contemporary architecture.
