Virgin Atlantic Club House

The 7,000 square foot Virgin Clubhouse is a study in “architectural elan”. Created by Shop Architects, with the lighting design by Focus Lighting, Inc., the lounge is a beautiful sanctuary for Virgin passengers where they can rest in a soothing atmosphere whilst being offered the most up to date technology, giving them an unrivaled journey experience from JFK to London.

The main lighting features in the lounge are the custom designed partition walls that separate the dining area into cozy enclaves. The walls were designed by Shop Architects and are made from custom cut pieces of MDF, which are then assembled in a jigsaw-puzzle-like fashion. This makes it possible to view the runway from inside the terminal while still creating an intimate space for the lounge.

The lounge features open-air seating areas surrounded by a series of cozy enclaves, whose lighting changes hue during the afternoon, so that it seems as though they are lighted by the setting sun. Transparency and openness are merged with privacy and enclosure

Decorative crystal chandelier fixtures hang in the center of each enclave. This modern day chandelier is surrounded by a cylindrical shaped shade made from one-way mirror. This allows us to see through the shade to the lighting fixture, but also bounces the light around on the inside. Corridor accent lighting softly illuminates the walls leading to the restrooms.
