As a part of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Focus Lighting developed a concept for the Wukesong Arena inspired by a significant symbol in Chinese culture, the lotus flower. Surrounded by a pool, vertical ribbons of undulating, perforated metal envelope the large glass structure, extending its entire length with color changing LEDs, creating a delicate, shimmering layer of color upon which the entire building appears to float.
